  • Reformer Pilates is a type of Pilates exercise that is performed using a specialized piece of equipment called a reformer. The reformer consists of a flat platform (the carriage) that moves back and forth along a track within a frame. This platform is attached to springs, which provide varying levels of resistance, and it also has straps, ropes, and pulleys that can be used for a wide range of exercises.

Benefits include; improved core strength, enhanced flexibility, better posture, increased muscle tone, balance and co-ordination. To learn more about different types of Reformer Pilates classes, or to book your first session, take a look at our Classes & Timetables here.

  • In short, Reformer Pilates is for everyone!

Whether you're a beginner, advanced, or seeking rehabilitation, Reformer Pilates provides low-impact exercises that can be tailored to your specific needs and goals.

  • Regular Pilates, often referred to as Mat Pilates, is a series of exercises that leverage your own body weight or small props like resistance bands and balls. Reformer Pilates, on the other hand, uses the reformer machine to add resistance and support, allowing for a broader range of exercises and more dynamic movements.

  • Reformer Pilates offers numerous benefits, including improved core strength, muscle tone, flexibility, posture, and overall body awareness. It can also aid in rehabilitation from injuries, enhance athletic performance, and promote relaxation and stress relief.

For a full list of benefits, please see here.

  • For optimal results, it is recommended to practice Reformer Pilates 2-3 times per week. However, even one session per week can be beneficial, especially for those new to the practice or incorporating it into a varied fitness routine. Book a class or check out our weekly class timetable online here.
